If a woodwind pad falls out, you can reinsert it. To do this
- place the pad in the key pan
- heat the key pan with a match, or lighter on low flame to
melt the adhesive into the key pan
- when the adhesive is melted, reposition the pad so it is flat
- apply pressure to the pad with a damp cloth or paper towel
for 10-15 seconds
To check the strength of the pad replacement, pull up on the pad
with a fingernail or other blunt instrument. If the pad stays
in place, replacement was successful.
To check the pad seat
- block the tone holes, as if in playing position, and block
the end of the instrument with your hand
- blow into the open end. No air should escape
